Connect heos link to receiver
The HEOS Link and Amp are both designed to be used with your Denon AVR in a number of ways.
- HEOS Link comes equipped with an IR Out that you could connect a 3.5mm mono cable to the AVRs Flasher In port. This will allow you to power on the AVR from the HEOS App and select a particular source.
- For audio transfer both the Link and Amp have a digital Optical In, a USB In, an RCA analog in (Line In) as well as a 3.5 mm based Aux In analog input. (Aux In requires a stereo 3.5 mm cable) Most Denon AVRs will have a set of RCA analog pre-outs (or Zone 2/3 pre-outs) that can be connected to the Line In of the Link or Amp. You can even use an RCA to 3.5 mm stereo cable to the Link / Amp's Aux In port if needed. Some Denon AVRs may even include an optical output which could then be connected to the Link / Amp's Optical In port. The USB In port can be used with an external drive that supports the NTFS, FAT 16 or FAT 32 USB standards.
Conversely, you can output audio from the Link. The Link includes a digital Optical Out, a digital Coaxial Out and a set of RCA analog outputs. (Pre-Outs) This is useful if you want to connect your HEOS audio through to your Denon AVR using one of the AVR's optical, coaxial or analog inputs.
Both the Link and Amp have a Subwoofer Out. The Subwoofer Out passes full frequency to your sub so make sure to set the crossover on your sub appropriately.
